Grayson Perry: The Tomb of the Unknown Craftsman

British artist Grayson Perry is known mainly for ceramic vases and cross-dressing. Perry's work refers to several ceramic traditions, including Greek pottery, and also tapestry and folk art, in a mix with contemporary icons and everyday life in our culture. Grayson Perry now curates an installation of his new works ("The Tomb of the Unknown Craftsman"), alongside objects made by unknown men and women throughout history from the British Museum’s collection.

O trabalho do inglês Grayson Perry é conhecido principalmente pelas arte cerâmica e cross-dressing. Seu trabalho mescla várias tradições artesanais, incluindo cerâmica grega, como também tapeçaria e arte popular, em uma colagem visual de ícones contemporâneos e da vida cotidiana em nossa cultura.

Grayson Perry agora é o curador de uma instalação de novas criações, com o título "The Tomb of the Unknown Craftsman", ao lado de obras históricas da coleção do British Museum.

Portuguese designer Maria João Arnaud, a talented friend of mine (we met at Central Saint Martins in London) has just launched a beautiful book of sketches about her trip to India. In her own words, "it was an overwhelming experience, the best in her life".

Maria João Arnaud é uma talentosa designer portuguesa (amiga que conheci quando estudamos Surface Design na Central Saint Martins em Londres) que acaba de publicar seu lindo livro de sketches sobre sua tão sonhada viagem à India. Nas suas próprias palavras, "foi uma experiência fora do comum, a melhor da vida, que merece ser vivida e revivida".

Pela sensibilidade dos desenhos e textos, dá pra sentir um pouco do que ela viu por lá.

Vans + Hermès

Vans + Hermès: unfortunately these are not an amazing collaboration between both brands. Actually, stylist Robert Verdi, had Vans make them for him out of his vintage Hermès’ scarves.

Pena que esses tênis não são uma parceria entre a Vans e a Hermès. São modelos customizados pelo stylist Robert Verdi, que se inspirou em seus lenços vintage de seda Hermès e sugeriu à Vans novas versões pro clássico slip-on.

Calma que vem coisa aí.

Brazilian lingerie brand Verve presents new prints (by me!) for the Ballet Summer Collection, a mix of watercolours, stamps and hand drawing.

A nova coleção, inspirada no Ballet clássico, na dança e na ornamentação teatral, vem mais uma vez com um trabalho afinado de estamparia e modelagem. E parece que anda agradando.

Designer Fabiana Falcão, my friend, made a post on her blog about the work of Brazilian graphic artist Athos Bulcão.

Ela diz: "As maravilhosas obras de Niemeyer fundem com a genialidade de um artista gráfico pouco valorizado: Athos Bulcão.

Em 1958 Athos chegou em Brasília com a equipe de Niemeyer onde viveu por cinco décadas. Suas obras ajudaram a transformar a cidade em uma galeria a céu aberto e a trazer mais beleza para a vida dos brasileiros."

“Artista eu era. Pioneiro eu fiz-me. Devo a Brasília esse sofrido privilégio. Realmente um privilégio: ser pioneiro. Dureza que gera espírito. Um prêmio moral.” Athos Bulcão (1918-2008).

Hygge greeting cards @lagomdesign: "Hygge" is a Danish word that, translated means “coziness” and “tranquility”.The tonal blue and white palette is reminiscent of Delftware (or Delft pottery, which is the blue and white pottery made in and around Delft in the Netherlands from the sixteenth century).

A cerâmica holandesa azul e branca (e os azulejos portugueses nos mesmos tons) são patterns que parecem que não cansam nunca e vivem dando nessas releituras. Bonito demais de se ver.
